On August 12th, 2014, the FCC released details about the E-rate reform efforts related to analyzing the data that they have gathered from E-rate stakeholders. FCC Managing Director Jon Wilkins posted a blog on the FCC website which further explains that the FCC Staff Report provides detail on “…the current state of communications technology in America’s libraries and schools as well as the way the E-Rate program provides support….”
The FCC also provided two maps that detail Fiber connectivity to schools and libraries. The maps can be viewed here. Note: the FCC has updated their fiber maps as additional information has been submitted to them.
