The SLD has announced that it now considers intranet web hosting as eligible for E-rate discounts, beginning with FY 2009 applications. As part of this change in E-rate eligibility, USAC announced a procedure for applicants and service providers to amend their web hosting funding requests to include ‘intranet or password-protected webpages.’
The SLD will reach out to service providers to obtain an updated cost-allocation of their service offerings which include intranet or password-protected webpages. This information will be used to update and verify the cost allocation of its customers’ requests. Service providers should be contacted by May 1 for this information, according to the SLD’s email.
For applicants that may fall under this expansion of eligible services, the SLD states that Program Integrity Assurance reviewers will be alerted to the funding requests that may include the newly-eligible services so that they can contact applicants regarding these requests to verify that a correct cost allocation is applied.
Funds For Learning will continue to monitor this development and provide updates as more information becomes available.
