The U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) announced that NextiraOne defrauded the E-rate program and was ordered to pay criminal fines and restitution. The FCC will soon start suspension procedures against NextiraOne.
According to the U.S. DoJ, NextiraOne, "defrauded the E-Rate program and the Oglala Nation Educational Coalition (ONEC) member schools – located on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota — by inflating equipment prices, submitting false and fraudulent invoices for payment, and failing to install and deliver certain equipment and services originally billed to the E-Rate program." Based on a Funds For Learning analysis of the SLD's data, NextiraOne has not received E-rate commitments since Funding Year 2003.
