This week the SLD notified 333 applicants and close to 400 service providers about the status of their 2005 applications in wave 34. The SLD committed $26 million with $9.4 million attributed to internal connections and $842,874 to basic maintenance requests at the 90% level. There is still no word when the SLD will lower the discount threshold below 90%. The SLD has committed $1.3 billion and still has $1.54 billion pending in 2005.
Because the FCC and USAC are spending more resources on auditing, it is important to remain in compliance with E-rate rules and regulations. School districts that are audited and found in non-compliance may have to give previously awarded E-rate dollars back to the Administrator per FCC regulations. If audited and found in non-compliance it is important to resolve such matters quickly in order avoid jepoardizing future E-rate funding requests. One school district in this funding wave was denied because "…your application was dismissed pursuant to the Red Light Rule which implements requirements of the Debt Collection Improvement Act…"
