The Universal Service Administrative Company has posted a job opening for a senior director of the Schools and Libraries Division.
The agency said it was seeking someone to "oversee and manage the day-to-day functions and responsibilities of the schools and libraries program." The job, as described, would have broad responsibilities, including management of outsourced vendors, program evaluation, staff management, strategic and short-term planning, speeches to outside groups, and communications with USAC committees.
Among other things, the job announcement said, the person would assist the vice president of SLD, a post currently held by George McDonald, in developing and implementing a plan for meeting new corporate goals, procedures and objectives. Contacted by phone, McDonald said the job represented a new position for the agency.
The announcement said the agency preferred a candidate "with knowledge of the rules affecting the schools and libraries support mechanism; formal training in formative and summative program evaluation, experience in implementing advanced technology solutions; technical understanding of advanced telecommunications."
