The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations has scheduled the third in a series of hearings concerning the potential for waste, fraud and abuse in the E-rate program. The session will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday September 22 in Room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
The committee did not release the witness list for that hearing. Earlier this week, the subcommittee approved a motion authorizing the issuance of subpoenas to five individuals "in connection with its investigation of the E-rate program." The five were Judy Green, Emma Epps, Douglas Benit, Quentin R. Lawson, and Carl Muscari. At the subcommittee's last hearing, reviewing the E-rate history of the San Francisco Unified School District and NEC Business Network Solutions, Green failed to appear, and the chairman of the House Commerce Committee vowed he would locate her and compel her to testify.
