For the second time in five weeks, the School and Libraries Committee has approved Internal Connections (IC) E-rate funding requests down to the 85 percent threshold for the 2003 funding year. A spokesman for the Schools and Libraries Division, contacted by Funds For Learning on August 14, confirmed that the committee approved the lower threshold at a non-quarterly meeting on August 13. In mid-July, the committee had also authorized an 85 percent level, but on July 22 the SLD acknowledged that it had erred in seeking authority to lower the threshold and that it would not be funding IC below the 90 percent threshold. The next funding wave is expected to be released on August 25.
