The Schools and Libraries Division announced February 28 that it will release another $29 million in E-rate funding commitments in 91 letters on March 3. That will bring the total committed for the 2002 funding year to $1.792 billion.
Applicants who receive support for non-recurring services in this latest wave will qualify for additional time-to September 30, 2004-to complete their projects because of the late date of their approved funding commitments.
The SLD expects to issue another wave on March 10. It said it still was not sure whether it would be able to fund internal connections requests from applicants eligible for a discount rate of 89 to 80 percent.
