The Schools and Libraries Division announced Nov. 30 that it had committed another $52 million in funding commitments to E-rate applicants in funding Year 4. With the latest wave, Wave 9, the SLD said it had committed nearly $1.7 billion, or approximately 75 percent of the $2.25 billion it is authorized to disburse this year. There was no change in the discount level for approved internal connections requests; they continued to be limited to those applicants with discount rates of 90 percent or higher.
SLD officials have said that the process of making funding commitments has been slowed because of program integrity reviews, including reviewing applications that may have flagged to its whistleblower hotline.
