With a week left before the start of the E-rate program's third funding year, the Schools and Libraries Division has committed just under $800 million or about 35 percent of the total pool of funds it has available to commit.
The SLD announced June 23 that its latest wave, number 11, would distribute 767 letters, representing about $40.4 million in commitments. That was similar to the size of the tenth wave, but half the size of some of the program's earlier waves. The SLD's Program Integrity Assurance staff is now tackling the more complicated applications, requiring so-called Item 25 reviews of the applicants' technology budgets.
There was no change in the threshold for approved internal connections in Wave 11. It remains at 85 percent.
