The Schools and Libraries Division has posted a new eligible services list to its Web site, marking the first time in close to nine months that it has made a major revision in the list.
The new list runs 36 pages long, and includes rulings on about 110 new and reconsidered items. Among other things, the list includes new positions on Ethernet cards and Network Interface Devices, power sources and electrical back-up systems, spare parts and remote access servers. The complete list can be accessed at http://www.sl.universalservice.org/Reference/eligible.asp.
Although the SLD began accepting Form 471 applications last month, the new list was posted before most applicants would have filed their funding requests for the 2000-01 funding year. During the second E-rate funding year, the SLD rejected requests in which more than 30 percent of the requested funding was for ineligible services. Most applicants wishing to appeal those decisions probably would have already done so without benefit of the list, since appeals must be filed within 30 days of the issuance of the funding commitment letter in order to be considered valid.
