Despite the wording of an official SLD communications that suggested differently, the deadline for the filing window for the E-rate program's third funding year is still Jan. 19, 2000.
Letters that applicants have been receiving, confirming the receipt of Form 470 applications and their certifications, have read: "A properly completed Form 471, with a signed Form 471 certification, must be received by the SLD no later than 01/08/2000 in order to be included in the initial Form 471 filing window."
The mistake was the result of a "clerical error," according to an SLD spokesman. He said that processing of additional letters was held up until the SLD could correct the mistake.
