In its latest semiannual report to Congress, the FCC Office of Inspector General indicated that it will be shifting some E-rate audits off of its desk. While they will still conduct some traditional USF audits, they will be stepping back from the improper payments (IPIA) audits that they have conducted in the past. The OIG says that these kinds of audits will be shifted to the Office of Managing Director.
The Office of Managing Director will hopefully take a more common sense approach to the IPIA assessment process than the OIG. This could mean a better audit experience for E-rate applicants.
