The current FCC “priority” funding system excludes most applicants from receiving internal connections support and may soon deny many applicants support for any services, even Internet access.
Funds For Learning® has proposed a new system that would allow schools to set their own funding priorities. The E-rate application process and discount rates would work the same as they do today – the only difference being applicant discounts would be subject to a budget. In any given year, an applicant’s funding requests may not exceed its budget amount.
Funds For Learning® has created a calculator schools can use to estimate what their budget would look like. Budget figures are returned for current E-rate funding levels, as well as a doubled funding cap of $4.5 billion.
The Funds For Learning FFL 2.0 School Budget Calculator wizard can be accessed here.
