Today, the FCC released a report on the potential impact of Chairman Wheeler’s E-rate modernization program. The report provides a state-by-state breakdown of the additional students, schools and libraries that could gain E-rate funding for wireless and Wi-Fi upgrades. The report estimates an additional 44 million students and 16, 000 libraries would benefit over the next 5 years if the proposed changes are made to the program.
The FCC is currently scheduled to vote on the E-rate Modernization Proposal at its open meeting on July 11th.
