On August 26th, 2014 the SLD has officially disbursed $1,006,355,848.97 for FY 2013. Nearly $685 million is for telecommunications services and $321 million is for Internet access services. According to my analysis, for FY 2011 and FY 2012, the SLD also reached the $1 billion disbursement mark 13 months after the funding year began.
Here are the dates on which the SLD reached the $1 billion disbursement mark for the last two funding years:
- FY 2011: August 13, 2012
- FY 2012: August 23, 2013
The SLD has already issued $1.75 million for FY 2014 and, because more applicants are receiving their commitments earlier than in previous funding years, I would expect that in FY 2014 the SLD will reach the $1 billion disbursement earlier as well.
