On December 11, 2017, the FCC released a Public Notice requesting feedback from stakeholders on whether affected areas of California should have regulatory relief tied to certain E-rate deadlines. This is in response to the California Department of Education (CDE) Waiver relief request that was submitted to the FCC on November 27. The California Department of Education stated in their waiver request that several schools were destroyed or severely damaged and many students had to transfer to other schools which put additional financial pressure on those schools’ resources. The comment deadline is January 11 and the reply comment deadline is January 26.
