On January 21, 2021, President Biden designated current Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel as Acting Chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission. Rosenworcel became a Commissioner in 2012, and will be the second woman in history to lead the agency.
According to the Commission’s press release, in her time at the FCC Rosenworcel “worked to promote greater opportunity, accessibility, and affordability in our communications services in order to ensure that all Americans get a fair shot at 21st century success,” as well as “access to the internet for students caught in the Homework Gap.”
