The second Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) filing window opened September 28th and closes today, October 13th at 11:59pm EST. Eligible schools and libraries are urged to submit requests as soon as possible for funding to purchase eligible equipment and services received or delivered between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022.
The FCC reminded applicants that the funding is available for the purchase of laptops and tablets, Wi-Fi hotspots, modems, routers, and broadband connections for off-campus use by students, school staff, and library patrons, and is available to support off campus leaning, such as homework, even if schools have returned to full time in-person instruction.
As of October 12, 2021, the FCC has committed over $2.4 billion, connecting nearly 8 million students with tools for online learning.
