On August 22, 2022, the Federal Communications Commission issued a Public Notice seeking comment on its proposed Eligible Services List (ESL) for Funding Year 2023. The draft FY2023 ESL proposes no changes to product or service eligibility from the FY2022 ESL, with the Commission noting that “the Administrator and the Bureau are not recommending any specific changes to the proposed FY 2023 eligible services list.”
In a footnote to the Public Notice, the FCC notes that “on May 11, 2022, Chairwoman Rosenworcel circulated that a Declaratory Ruling, if adopted, would allow for providing Wi-Fi on school buses, finding that it serves an educational purpose and that the provision of such service is eligible for E-Rate support. […] If adopted, the Bureau will separately seek comment on the specific services and equipment needed to provide Wi-Fi on school buses.”
Comments to the proposed ESL are due on September 21, 2022, with reply comments due October 6, 2022. The draft ESL may be accessed here.
