Debra Kriete, general counsel of the Schools and Libraries Division since December 1997, has resigned to join the Philadelphia law firm of Wolf, Block, Schorr and Solis-Cohen, LLP, "to pursue new professional opportunities," according to an SLD press release. Kriete will continue to be retained by the SLD as an outside counsel.
"As founding general counsel, Debra's contributions to the E-rate program have been incalculable," said SLD CEO Kate Moore. "Her program expertise, commitment to the successful launch of the E-rate, and wise counsel have served every member of the diverse E-rate community."
Before joining the Schools and Libraries Corporation, Kriete had served as legal counsel to a member of the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission, and as a senior staff member of the Federal-State Joint Board on Universal Service, which developed the broad outlines of the E-rate program for the Federal Communications Commission.
Kriete will join the Harrisburg office of Wolf, Block. She commuted from Harrisburg during the time she worked for the SLD.
