The shortened Independence Day holiday week had an impact on the Schools and Libraries Division as the agency announced July 7 that 337 funding commitment letters would be distributed in Wave 13, representing only $17.8 million in commitments. The volume represented 40 percent of the number of letters the SLD had distributed in the previous wave, but only 7 percent of the dollar amount that was committed the week before.
One week into the new funding year, the SLD has committed slightly less than half of the $2.25 billion maximum that it could commit. There was no change in the approved threshold for internal connections in the latest wave, as it remained at the 85 percent discount rate level.
