The Schools and Libraries Division announced Nov. 2 that the Year Four filing window will open at noon EST on Monday Nov. 6 and close at 11:59 p.m. EST on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001. That means the unofficial deadline for filing a Form 470 application, if needed, will be Dec. 21, 2000-or 28 days before the close of the filing window.
In an important change, the SLD announced that an application will be considered to be filed within the window if it was postmarked by Jan. 18, 2001. In the past, the SLD had to physically receive the application by that date, causing problems for applicants who ran into service problems with the Postal Service or delivery services. The SLD said, however, that all the required paperwork must be included in that submission, including certifications and attachments.
