The Schools and Libraries Division announced April 25 that on May 1 it will issue the first wave of funding commitments for the 2003 funding year-14,000 letters providing $181 million worth of Priority One commitments. The average approved funding commitment per letter works out to about $13,000 per applicant.
The SLD has said it does not know when it will be able to start issuing commitments for Priority Two services. The SLD is still reviewing 2002 internal connections funding requests from applicants who qualify for a discount rate of 80 percent.
