SLD Distributes $85 Million More in Commitments as Funding Year Approaches

The Schools and Libraries Division announced June 20 that on June 23 it will distribute about $85 million in funding commitments for Priority One services for the 2003 funding year.

As of this wave, the last 2003 wave before the start of the 2003 funding year on July 1, the SLD will have distributed a total of $383.8 million worth of commitments in 22,004 letters to applicants. At this point last year, the SLD had committed $618 million worth of commitments.

This wave includes commitments for only Priority One services. The SLD recently announced that it has already determined that it will not be able to fund requests for internal connections below the 70 percent discount rate in 2003.
