The Schools and Libraries Division announced that on May 4 it will release 146 E-rate funding commitment letters, totaling more than $20.5 million, for the 2003 funding year.
While the SLD can only disburse $2.25 billion, they have the authority to commit up to $2.7 billion. The issuance of this 28th wave of funding letters represents a total commitment, so far, of over $2.5 billion.
The SLD is now managing regular waves for two funding years. Last week it announced the first wave, for Priority One services, for the 2004 funding year, which starts July 1.
