The Schools and Libraries Division announced that on May 24 it would distribute another wave of funding commitments for 2004, this one totaling more than $126.3 million. The latest wave, number 19 for that funding year, will bring the total committed so far to more than $2.1 billion.
Applicants that receive approval letters for non-recurring expenses in the latest wave will have until September 30, 2006 to complete their projects, under a program rule that provides them with additional time when they do not receive approval until after March 1 of the funding year.
The wave was the largest since January 10, when the SLD resumed issuing funding commitments after a five-month hiatus. The SLD said that the latest wave would continue to notify applicants that had applied for internal connections at discount rates of 80 percent or lower that there will not be enough funding available to support their requests.
The SLD said it would continue to issue regular waves for the 2004 funding year until the process is complete.
