The SLD notified 11 schools in Puerto Rico that their 2001 applications have been denied. The denial of the 11 schools is close to $920,000. The SLD denied these applicants because:
"Associated Form 470 contains service provider (SP) contact information. Competitive bidding violation occurs when SP associated with Form 470 participates in competitive bidding process as a bidder."
Service providers can provide neutral technology advice to schools, but need to distance themselves during the procurement and competitive bidding process.
This week the SLD also notified 8 applicants and 17 service providers about the status of their 2004 applications committing $70,983.53 all for priority one requests. The SLD has committed a total of $2,285,022,862 and still has $224,574,698 pending in 2004.
