The Leading Education by Advancing Digital (LEAD) Commission released a blueprint that addresses the challenges that our schools are having in adopting technology in the classrooms. While there are several issues identified in the LEAD Commission’s blueprint, the Commission argued that the number one barrier and most expensive obstacle is the inadequate high speed connectivity in our nation’s classrooms. The blueprint further explains that the existing E-rate framework is no longer sufficient to meet the current needs of our nation’s students.
The other areas that the LEAD Commission would like to see addressed:
Build a national effort to deploy devices;
Accelerate the adoption of digital curriculum;
Enhance and encourage model schools; and
Invest in human capital.
