Despite significant changes to the E-rate program, USAC has, for the 3rd year in a row, reduced the number of days required to release its first funding wave. For many years, the number of days from the close of the filing window to the first funding wave hovered in the 75-to-100 day range. However, since FY2013 USAC has consistently narrowed the gap between the close of the filing window and the release date of its first funding wave. In fact, USAC set a new record in 2015, releasing the first funding wave a mere 35 days after the close of the filing window.
The following table shows the number of funding commitment decision letters processed for each funding year based on the number of days required for USAC to issue a funding commitment decision letter.
