Senator John Thune, the Senate Commerce Committee Chairman, and Senator Cory Gardner have sent a letter to FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler and to Chris Henderson, CEO of USAC, questioning the role of consultants in the Rural Health Care Program. In the letter, dated May 10, 2016, the Senators ask about “application mills” that produce a large volume of RHC paperwork, expressing concern that an excessive amount of RHC benefits not be consumed by fees to RHC consultants.
