Schools and libraries have voted, and their transmission technology of choice is Ethernet-based broadband services. Comprising 71% of total broadband requests, demand for Ethernet service represents over twice that of all other types of broadband service combined:

While Funding Year 2016 was the first year in program history where self-construction of broadband networks was an option for E-rate applicants, it is clear from the application data that a majority of applicants prefer traditional managed network connections.
