On December 30, 2016, the FCC granted an appeal to the Sweetwater City Schools Consortium finding that the applicant did not violate the FCC’s rules tied to cost effectiveness or competitive bidding. AT&T believed that a fair, open and competitive bidding process did not occur and argued that the denial of funding be upheld. The Sweetwater Appeal, as it has become know, was one of the most high-profile appeals pending at the FCC, even garnering a Congressional information request. This decision impacts funding for FY 2013-2015 for 45 districts and nearly $60 million in requested funds.
