On December 13, 2017, FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai sent a letter to the USAC Board of Directors outlining his concerns regarding USAC’s technology systems. Specifically, Pai would like USAC to “redouble” their efforts to implement technology systems that are “available, reliable, secure, and compliant with applicable guidance….USAC has not adequately planned for, coordinated, and executed testing and review activities to prove the security, reliability, and functionality of its systems.” Chairman Pai remains concerned that these challenges have caused delays and impacted FCC deadlines including not having a fully functioning E-rate Productivity Center for the 2017 funding year.
