E-rate Fraud Indictment

On January 25, 2018, the United States Department of Justice announced that a federal grand jury returned an indictment against Donna Woods and Donatus Anyanwu in relation to a kickback scheme to defraud the E-rate program. Donna Woods was the CEO of Nova Charter School in TX and Donatus Anyanwu was the owner of ADI Engineering, an E-rate service provider. According to a Funds For Learning analysis, ADI participated in the E-rate program only in FY 2011 and their only customer was Nova Charter Schools and was committed $343,000. Nova Charter Schools has their FY 2016 and FY 2017 E-rate requests pending for a total of $157,000.
