On August 11, 2021, the FCC reminded schools and libraries that the deadline to complete Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) applications is this Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11:59pm EST. In a statement, Acting Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel urged schools and libraries to apply for the ECF support:
“…Far too many students are struggling to connect to modern education resources online – a terrible reality that only became starker during the COVID-19 pandemic. I want to strongly encourage schools and libraries with remote learning needs in their communities to apply for this new funding for the upcoming school year. The FCC stands ready to support these institutions and is here to answer any questions they may have about this unique program that can help us close the digital divide.”
Additionally, the FCC provided information on how to apply and the next steps, applicants should take.
