On March 28, 2022, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released their Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Estimates to Congress. The Commission is requesting $390,192,000 in budget authority, an increase of $16,192,000 or 4.3% from the FY2022 annualized continuing appropriations FCC budget. The Commission specifically referenced E-rate in their budget estimate requests and stated that the Commission is committed to enhancing access to broadband and telecommunications services in eligible elementary and secondary schools and libraries. The E-rate program has a current cap of $4.46 billion per funding year, adjusted annually for inflation.
