Funding Year 2022 officially started on July 1, 2022, and schools and libraries across the country are going into the new E-rate year with more committed funds at the start of the year than any other year in program history. As of June 30, 2022, USAC had committed $1.875 billion for FY2022, far surpassing the next highest year ($1.427 billion in FY2021.) In addition to holding the record for the most total committed funds prior to the start of the funding year, FY2022 also saw a big jump in the percentage of early Category Two commitments, with nearly $850M in C2 commitments made before July 1.
In total, more than 80% of the funding requests submitted for FY2022 have been issued a funding decision prior to the start of the Funding Year. This represents around 60% of the total dollars requested, suggesting that most of what remains to be reviewed for FY2022 consists of larger applications and/or funding requests.
