UEI Requirement Starts May 12

On April 12, 2023, USAC issued a News Brief indicating that the previously announced Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) requirement for FCC Forms 498 will go into effect on May 12, 2023. The UEI requirement replaces the previous use of the Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) method of identifying applicants.

According to USAC’s News Brief, applicants will be required “to have an active UEI to submit a new FCC Form 498 or to modify their existing FCC Form 498 if they will be using the BEAR method of reimbursement.” In addition, the EIN associated with the UEI must be the same EIN that is listed on both the applicant’s FCC Registration Number and FCC Form 498. Finally, USAC advises that the applicants’ SAM.gov registrations must be active in order for reimbursements to be processed.
