On August 24, 2023, the Federal Communications Commission issued a Public Notice seeking nominations for six member positions on the Board of Directors of the Universal Service Administrative Company. USAC is the designated vehicle of distribution of the federal Universal Service Fund (USF) by the FCC. It is governed by a board of directors representing a variety of stakeholders, and each Board member position is for a three-year term.
Representatives are being sought from:
- Schools eligible to participate in the E-rate program
- Rural health care providers eligible to participate in the Rural Health Care program
- Incumbent local exchange carriers
- Competitive local exchange carriers
- Low-income consumers
- Interexchange carriers with annual operating revenues of $3B or less
