On April 25, 2024, the Federal Communications Commission voted to reclassify internet access service as a Title II telecommunications service, reversing a decision made in May 2017. The change gives the FCC more authority to regulate internet service and establishes rules governing the prioritization of internet traffic by service providers, known as “net neutrality.” The reclassification was approved by the Commission in a 3-2 vote along party lines.
