Giving back is more than a noble gesture; it’s a powerful catalyst for personal and communal transformation.
My personal life mission is to empower transformational growth for a brighter future. This mission aligns fundamentally with my work at Funds For Learning supporting schools and libraries in the E-rate program. But outside of what I do for my “day job,” if you will, I make it a priority to find other avenues and opportunities to support organizations and initiatives, aligned with my life mission.
I’ve found the time I’ve spent supporting volunteering with groups outside of my responsibilities at Funds For Learning to be enriching and transformational in my life. These opportunities have immeasurable impact. Whether through professional groups, non-profit organizations, or educational programs, giving back enriches our lives and strengthens our communities.
I encourage you to find a group that aligns with your passions. You might be surprised by how much your freely given time can reap invaluable rewards, both personally and for those you help.
My Experiences
I briefly want to highlight 3 unique organizations that exemplify the power of giving back. These organizations truly have fueled my passion, and I am grateful to be a part of them. I would be remiss talking about my passions and serving organizations I care about, without mentioning them.
Great Expectations
Great Expectations is a professional development program that provides teachers and administrators with skills and elements that inspire students to pursue academic excellence. Being married to an educator and working with administrators every day at Funds For Learning, I’ve always deeply respected the work of classroom teachers. Supporting the work of Great Expectations is a tangible reminder of the power of learning.
E-MPA
E-MPA promotes excellence and ethics in E-rate professional management and consulting through certification, education and professional resources. E-MPA also provides E-rate professionals the opportunity to become CEMPS, certified E-rate professionals. In 2008, I was E-MPA’s first president, and I am grateful to be serving as president again this year. E-MPA has provides a level of comradery and distinct merit to the hundreds of individuals who support schools and libraries applications each year to the E-rate program.
Entrepreneur’s Organization
Last, but certainly not least, I am a proud member of Entrepreneur’s Organization, or EO. EO helps entrepreneurs achieve their full potential through life-enhancing connections. Having served in a variety capacities over my 12 years of involvement, I am honored to serve as the Global Growth Portfolio Chair. In my current position, I support the growth of hundreds of chapters across the globe. Connecting with entrepreneurs from around the world has made a profound impact on my life, providing me with cherished friendships, incredible experiences and unique leadership insights. I am grateful to be able to support the growth and betterment of an organization that has impacted me in more ways than I can count.
The Bottom Line
What fuels your passion? Find an opportunity outside of your day-to-day work to serve or volunteer. Align with your passions and be creative. The time you give freely will have a profound impact on your life and the lives of others.
