On June 24, 2022, the Federal Communications Commission Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel and Crosby Kemper, Director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote public awareness of the federal funding opportunities for Broadband. In the MOU, the agencies agreed to:

  1. Share data about participation in the FCC’s E-rate and Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) programs, IMLS’ grant programs, and availability of high-speed broadband services.
  2. Publicize information about federal broadband funding opportunities and resources available through the Parties’ respective outreach channels, including:
    1. Stakeholder communications
    2. Web resources
    3. Social media
  3. Partner on the development of broadband-related outreach materials and events.
  4. Explore users’ experiences and technical assistance needs related to federal broadband funding opportunities. Share lessons learned associated with removing barriers to prospective applicants and streamlining processes to support expanded access.
  5. Expand/leverage the use of mobile services and other points of access, where feasible.
  6. Connecting underserved communities to digital resources and services.
