The Schools and Libraries Division announced that on May 12 it will release $44.3 million worth of Priority One funding commitments for the 2003 funding year. This second wave will distribute nearly 2,500 letters to E-rate applicants. The SLD did not say when it might be able to begin approving discounts for Priority Two services.
The SLD has revised the funding commitment decision letter for the new funding year to clarify applicants' responsibilities under the program and to highlight deadlines that must be met if applicants are to take advantage of their funding commitments. Meanwhile, the SLD is continuing to issue commitments for the 2002 funding year as it completes a more detailed review of the remaining applications.
